Best Wind Energy Stocks - Ten Small Speculative CompaniesThe growth rate of the US wind energy industry has slowed considerably. Yet still America continues to install more wind capacity than any other country except China. Last year, the US added around 5,100 MW in new capacity, and a similar figure is expected for 2011. These are good numbers, though down from the 8,400 MW of 2008 or the 9,800 MW of 2009. So some wind companies are suffering from postponed orders and increased competition. I have already written about the main companies that are benefiting from trends in US wind energy. But many smaller companies are involved too, some of them listed on stock markets. Here are ten of these. Be aware that these are very speculative in nature. Most do not make any profit, and few have much in the way of sales revenues. All are listed on the OTC markets. It is true that the best gains can come from a speculative company still at the development stage. But it must also be stressed that an investment in many of these companies would be extremely risky. It is not even certain that all will survive, let alone move into profit and start producing strong returns. The companies are: Clean Wind Energy Tower – is developing an innovative new form of wind energy. Crownbutte Wind Power – a North Dakota wind farm developer. Helix Wind – a supplier of small-scale wind turbines. Mass Megawatts Wind Power – is developing innovative new wind power technology. Nacel Energy – an Arizona-based wind farm developer. Pioneer Power Solutions – a manufacturer of small-scale wind turbines. Western Wind Energy – a Vancouver-based company with wind farms operating in California and a pipeline of new developments. Wind Energy America – a Minnesota wind farm developer. Windpower Innovations – a specialist in the repair and maintenance of wind turbine gearboxes. XZERES – a supplier of small-scale wind turbines. * Learn more on the attractions of the US wind sector in the ebook Investing in US Wind Energy. May 28th, 2011 |
